U.S. News & World Report Names Insurance Agent Top Job

In its annual job rankings report, U.S. News & World Report has named the insurance agent as one of the best jobs of 2012 and said the “profession should see significant growth over the next decade.”

Bob Rusbuldt, Big “I” president & CEO, was quoted extensively in the article and provided insight on independent agent’s outlook, earnings, other opportunities, responsibilities, and lifestyles of the individuals who choose this career.

The multipart report also featured rankings and reports of large industry groupings such as business, health care, science and technology. Insurance agent was ranked as the eighth best business job.

The piece by veteran journalist Philip Moeller is also largely based on annual reports and projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The latest figures further demonstrate the independent insurance agency system’s growth and opportunity. The association’s continuing efforts to attract talent to the industry include InVEST, a financial literacy program in community colleges and high schools across the country, the Diversity Committee and the Young Agents Committee.
