IIAB LA Hosts Lunch and Learn on Rising Cost of Healthcare

The IIABA Los Angeles hosted a “Lunch and Learn” this week on the topic “The Rising Cost of Healthcare.” The featured speaker was Dr. Arthur Kellerman, vice president and director of RAND Health who holds the Paul O'Neill Alcoa Chair in Policy Analysis at the RAND Corporation.

“We had a terrific level of participation from our fellow local asociations with over 40 people attending and the reviews were fantastic,” said Jon Axel, HUB International and President IIABA LA.

Dr. Kellerman outlined the facts regarding the factors driving our healthcare systems costs and how those factors are not providing the results we would expect. Regardless of what direction we take in our future healthcare policy one thing is certain – doing nothing is not going to work concluded Kellerman.

Before joining RAND, Kellerman was a professor of emergency medicine and public health and associate dean for health policy at the Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta. Kellermann founded Emory's Department of Emergency Medicine and served as its first chair from 1999 to 2007.
