Hasson Wins Big "I" Award; Dattola & Martin Win Awards to Attend Big "I" Legislative Conference

This week the Big “I” national Young Agents Committee selected Darren Hasson of the WHINS Insurance Agency in Encino, Calif. winner of the 2011 Maurice Herndon Scholarship award. The inspiration for his essay came from none other than the Academy Award acceptance speech of David Seidler, when he said “We have a voice. We have been heard.”

Hasson, a young agency owner, understands the value that an independent agent brings not only to consumers, but to the community.  “The national Young Agents Committee is proud to have Darren join us in Washington, D.C. and know that he will be an excellent advocate for the industry on Capitol Hill and in his hometown,” says Andy Beauchamp, national Young Agent Committee Chairman and vice president, Beauchamp McSpadden. The Maurice Herndon Award is presented to one first-time young agent attendee of the Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention.

Also this week the IBA West Young Brokers & Agents Committee selected Joseph Martin, Jr of DiBuduo & DeFendis Insurance Agency in Bakersfield and Dana Dattola of Weaver & Associates, Inc. in Arcadia winners of the Big “I” Young Agents Scholarships.

They will each receive a $500 scholarship to be used towards their expenses at the Big “I’ Legislative Conference & Convention in Washington DC.  The scholarships are presented to two first-time young agent attendees based on submission of an application and essay.
