Legislative Schedule

The deadline for legislators to introduce bills is Friday, February 18th. As is usually the practice, most of the bills introduced for this session will be introduced next week.  According to the rules of both houses these bills must be in print for 30 days prior to being heard or amended.  Given the 30 day in print rule, legislative policy hearings will begin in earnest by mid-March.  

In the meantime, legislators are busy with budget subcommittees and negotiations in an attempt to meet Governor Brown’s requested March 15th deadline to send him a budget deal.
