Beth Gaines, wife of state Sen. Ted Gaines, R-Roseville, announced her candidacy to win her husband's District 4 Assembly seat. Ted Gaines, an IBA West member, won the Jan. 4 special election to replace the late Dave Cox as 1st District senator and was sworn in last week.
"IBA West members helped elect Ted to the Senate," said Clark Payan, IBA West CEO. "I encourage everyone to visit Beth's website , learn more about her candidacy and support her effort to win Ted's seat,"
Beth Gaines is running in a special election. Under California's new open primary, the two candidates with the highest votes in the March 8 primary will contend for the seat in a run off on May 3, unless one person grabs more than 50 percent of the vote.
Other candidates in the race Michael Babich, Dennis Campanale, John Allard and Matt Williams. Reportedly Auburn City Councilman Keith Nesbitt is also considering joining the race.
“I don’t come from government,” she said in a release announcing her candidacy. “Instead, I will bring a unique set of experiences and skills to representing the people of our area.”
Gaines is a marketing consultant for IBA West member Point West Insurance Associates. Her prior business experience includes sales and marketing for a medical supply company and management experience at the local branch of a national employment firm. Beth Gaines has also served as a teacher for Placer County pre-schoolers. She has volunteered for numerous charities and groups in Roseville where she resides, including the Child Abuse Prevention Council, Mothers of Preschoolers and Acres of Hope in Applegate.
