Repeat of popular webinar set for Dec. 8.
It has now been almost a full year since the September 2009 ACORD 24 and 25 certificate of insurance forms were revised to, among many other changes, remove cancellation notice language from the forms. In December 2009, this language was removed from all other ACORD certificate evidence forms, including the ACORD 20, 21, 22, 23, 27 and 28.
ACORD’s forms licensing agreement stipulates that once a new form has been published for one year, the prior edition can no longer be used. In addition, in an increasing number of states where ACORD forms are filed with insurance regulators, this requirement goes beyond a contractual agreement and is law. At the one-year threshold, agents are reporting increasing pushback in the marketplace, whereby they are being pressured to violate contractual agreements or statutory or regulatory directives in order for their customers to get work or get paid for completed work.
A previous webinar presented by Bill Wilson (Big “I” national staff member), Stuart Powell (Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina) and Bill Perkins (Florida Association of Agents) addressed this pushback. They provided practical information and tools that agents can use to respond to pressure from certificate requestors to issue inaccurate or illegal certificates, and to address a number of related issues that continue to plague agents and result in significant E&O exposures, ultimately causing problems for insurance consumers.
The panel will repeat another live session on Dec. 8, 2010, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. EST. More information and the registration link can be found HERE.
For those who need to review the information immediately, the October recording is available for purchase and can be found HERE along with the 22-page Q&A from attendees.
