Monterey Insurance Agencies and Fireman's Fund Support Carmel Fire Department

Monterey Insurance Agencies/John O. Bronson and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company announced this week their donation of almost $16,000 to assist the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea Fire Department in acquiring firefighting, rescue and physical fitness training equipment. The grant was made through the Fireman's Fund Heritage Reward Program which provides funds to fire departments enabling them to enhance their levels of service to the community.

The Carmel City Council accepted the grant with thanks to Paul Bystrowski Monterey Insurance Agencies/John O. Bronson CEO and Fireman’s Fund Insurance. This is the second grant awarded to Carmel. In 2008, the city was awarded $25,000 to purchase an autopulse resuscitation system.

"The Carmel Fire Department deeply appreciates the tremendous support and generosity from the City of Carmel by the Sea, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company and Monterey Insurance Agencies in making it possible for us to acquire this valuable equipment," Mitchell Kastros, Captain of the Carmel Fire Department. "The end result will be enhanced service to our community and safer, more effective working conditions for our firefighters."

Fireman's Fund independent agents and Fireman's Fund employees can nominate fire departments in their communities for grants to fund firefighting equipment, firefighting training, public safety education and fire prevention programs.  The grants are reviewed quarterly by task forces that include employees and independent insurance agents.
