Jones Elected Insurance Commissioner

Insurance Commissioner-Elect Dave Jones

Democrat Dave Jones has been elected California's next insurance commissioner. Jones defeated Assemblyman Mike Villines, the Republican candidate (50.5% to 37.8%).

Though he was vastly out spent throughout most of the campaign, Villines managed a competitive effort. As election day drew closer, a handful of insurance companies contributed more than $4 million to the California Chamber of Commerce JobsPAC that funded ads attacking Jones.  Both men refused direct contributions from the insurance industry.

Both Jones and Villines were termed out of the Assembly.

Today, IBA West CEO Clark Payan drafted the following congratulatory letter to Insurance Commissioner-elect Jones:

November 3, 2010

c/o 9th California Assembly District Office
915 L Street, Suite 110
