The Virtual Insurance Marketplace Debuts October 2010

Next month, IBA West will participate in The Virtual Insurance Marketplace, a virtual tradeshow live from October 27 – 30, 2010.

“This concept is the perfect solution to the ongoing challenge of rising costs, time constraints and declining attendance at insurance tradeshows”, according to Anita Nevins from Direct Connection Advertising & Marketing, the promoter of the event.

Retail insurance producers anywhere in the United States attend the tradeshow for free and log in from a computer anywhere to visit exhibitor booths with live chat, download documents, view video lectures and even win prizes.

“We surveyed retail insurance producers throughout the United States and found they struggle with value of attending a tradeshow against the time out of the office and the financial commitment.”

Thus Nevins, a insurance marketing consultant, conceived the idea of a virtual insurance trade show. Virtual trade shows have been around for awhile, explained Nevins but they are relatively new to the insurance industry. Nevins licensed software from an experienced vendor. 

“The software is user friendly and can accommodate insurance producers with all levels of technology experience. The Virtual Insurance Marketplace provides a great option for those that do not usually attend tradeshows, for a variety of reasons,” said Nevins.

But Nevins thinks physical tradeshows will continue to be valuable because we can look each other in the eyes, shake hands and come away feeling that we have connected with business associates old and new. However in a virtual tradeshow she hopes to demonstrate that producers can search for new markets and business enhancement tools without leaving the office.
