Blakeslee Wins Special Election to SD 15, Sworn into Senate

The special election in Senate District 15 was held on August 17th and Republican Sam Blakeslee emerged victorious.

Blakeslee obtained 48.47% of the vote, while his Democratic opponent, former Assemblyman John Laird, received 44.54%.

This election was a big win for the business community, as they poured in millions of dollars to ensure the Democrats did not get one seat closer to obtaining a two-thirds majority in the Senate.
Blakeslee was sworn in to the Senate and cast his first votes as a Senator this past Monday.
