Agribusiness Committee
This committee advises on our dealings and advocacy in the agribusiness insurance field. It studies and makes reports on subjects of substantial concern to members and on public policy issues involving the agribusiness market. It reviews and recommends improvementsin related insurance coverages. It advises the Insurance Skills Center on the Annual Agribusiness Conference and the Accredited Farm Insurance Specialist designation. It acts as a resource to members and the media on agribusiness insurance issues. The committee meets as needed.
Blue Ribbon Conference Committee
This committee oversees the program development, marketing and execution of our annual Blue Ribbon Conference. The group begins about a year out to decide the subjects and invite speakers for the next conference. The committee sends personal invitations to executives of member firms to participate in this outstanding conference. The committee meets as needed.
Commercial Insurance Committee
This committee advises on our dealings and advocacy in commercial insurance areas. It studies and makes reports on subjects of substantial concern to members and on public policy issues involving the commercial insurance market. It reviews and recommends improvements in related insurance coverages. The committee acts as a resource to members and the media on commercial insurance issues. The committee meets as needed.
Finance Council
This council oversees the financial dealings of the association and its subsidiary corporations. It develops and submits to the Board of Directors an annual budget, monitors our compliance with financial policies and recommends changes to those policies as appropriate. The council reviews our financial statements, monitors our performance to budget, provides a monthly projection of our expected year-end results and identifies areas for expense savings. It also evaluates and makes recommendations regarding insurance needs of the organization. The council meets several times a year.
Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee monitors legislation in the California Legislature affecting our members and their clients. This committee finalizes our annual legislative agenda, establishes our positions on bills and oversees our advocacy in the Legislature. The committee convenes about eight times a year.
Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California Service Corp Board of Directors
This board sets the policies and overall direction for the for-profit activities of Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California. These include education/training through ISC and business services and insurance programs through Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California Service Corp itself. Net income derived from the Service Corp businesses provides Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California with important and necessary resources to carry out its mission on behalf of the membership. Service Corp board members help develop our insurance programs and monitor their performance. The board meets quarterly or more often as needed.
Insurance Skills Center Board of Directors
This board approves the business plan and monitors the performance of Insurance Skills Center (ISC), an Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California Service Corp subsidiary whose mission is to be the West’s highest quality insurance education and training resource. This board is comprised of select ISC customers and includes Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California members. The board meets quarterly or more often as needed.
InsurPAC Campaign Chairperson
This person conducts the annual InsurPAC fundraising campaign soliciting contributions from California members to meet participation goals established by IIABA.
Media Team Steering Committee Chairperson
This person coordinates the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California media relations program, selects and monitors the performance of the members of the Media Team and provides these volunteer spokespersons the training and tools they need to effectively present the voice and message of the membership to the public. The chair is selected from among the members of the Media Team.
Nominating Committee
This committee considers the competencies needed to fill vacancies on the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California Board of Directors, and seeks out and nominates those candidates with the requisite skills who are willing to serve. The committee makeup is set in the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California bylaws. The immediate past president is the chair. In addition there is the president-elect, a current and past director and two at-large members. The committee meets as needed in order to carry out its duties.
Personal Insurance Committee
This committee advises on our dealings and advocacy in personal insurance areas. It studies and makes reports on subjects of substantial concern to members and on public policy issues involving the personal insurance market. It reviews and recommends improvements in related insurance coverages. It acts as a resource to members and the media on personal insurance issues. The committee meets as needed.
State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) Advisory Council – Appointed by State Fund
This council works with State Fund management to assure the Broker Access Program meets the needs of producers. It reviews issues and makes recommendations to improve delivery of SCIF products through brokers. It helps resolve complaints brought by producers or by SCIF. Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California recommends candidates to State Fund to fill vacancies as they occur.
Strategic Planning Council
This council oversees the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California planning process. It is composed of representatives of each major segment of the membership. It reviews annually the overall strategic plan that establishes the purpose and direction of Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California and its subsidiary corporations, including our statements of Mission, Vision and Core Values. It annually updates our environmental scan and recommends key goals and strategies. In conjunction with the Finance Council, it develops an operating plan and budget and presents them to the Board of Directors. The council meets four times a year or more as needed.
Trusted Choice Junior Classic (TCJC) Committee
This committee plans and operates the California state tournament of the TCJC program. It is comprised of members from around the state who are committed to junior golf. The committee solicits financial support for the state IIAJC tourney and promotes participation in it. Its members provide guidance to local associations that conduct qualifying IIAJC events. It selects and chaperones state qualifiers to the national IIAJC tournament. The committee meets as needed.
Emerging Leaders Committee
This committee of young broker-agents plans, promotes and stages an annual conference. It encourages and assists local associations to develop programs and activities for young brokers and agents locally. It helps publish the Pipeline, which is the IIABCal publication for young brokers and agents in the West. It meets as needed throughout the year. New committee members are appointed in July each year to meet the committee’s need to begin working on the next year’s conference.
